Impulse Sealer

An impulse sealer is an invaluable tool used to address all kinds of packaging needs. Businesses that need to seal packages on a daily basis will benefit greatly from the use of this amazing machine. Basically, these sealers use a short burst of electricity that flows through a specially designed wire, which is used to melt the sides of the bag being sealed to easily weld them together. Heat is generated when the sealer’s jaw is brought into contact with the bag.

In general, impulse sealers can be classified into two major types, the manual and automatic. Manual sealers are user-activated machines. This means that, in order to work, the operator must manually place the bag between the sealer’s jaw and then push the upper jaw down so that it will come in contact with the bag. Most of the manual impulse bag sealer models feature a convenient table-top design.

On the other hand, automatic impulse heat sealer models are purposely designed to accommodate repeated and continuous sealing of thermoplastic materials. Depending on the model, automatic sealers are capable of sealing bags of varying thickness and sizes. Their operation is mainly controlled by a plug-in transistorized circuit board that allows them to be automatically programmed to seal the bags. Moreover, they have programmable timers that can be used for congealing, heating, and recycling. Automatic impulse heat sealers are relatively easy to operate since all you need to do is to set the control to Auto mode, and then the machine will take care of the rest. In addition to that, the frequency of the movement of the sealing bars can be adjusted by the operator accordingly.

It is important that the sealer’s heating time must be set appropriately so that the sealing bars will be able to produce adequate heat to effectively melt the plastic material on the bag for optimum sealing. Bear in mind that setting the timer correctly is critical for a successful sealing operation. This is because if the timer is not set long enough, it is very likely that the sealed bag will burst open due to a weak seal. Meanwhile, if the timer is set for too long, it can burn the bag, thus, resulting to a low-quality seal or damaged bags.
